Remember, there were dragons long before men came into the world. Why, it was none other than The Great Dragons of Yore who invented the idea of knighthood. Yes, yes, that’s right! Dragons had knights, Kings, princesses and queens long before men crawled out of the muck.

About This Quote

In "The Dragons of Yore," the protagonist, a young boy named Jack, sees a dragon flying over the countryside one day. He tries to catch it with a net, but can't. He then climbs on a cart and rides after the dragon on horseback. When he does catch up to it, he sees that it is a female dragon and she tells him that she is a Queen of the dragons.

She explains that she came from the kingdom of the dragons long ago, where she ruled as queen until some humans came and slaughtered all her people. She then flew away from them and left her kingdom behind. In the end, Jack helps her to return to her kingdom, which is where all dragons live by going over a great mountain so that she can fly back home.
